About The Author
Georgia Schmeichel’s passion for storytelling comes from a lineage of the world’s best storytellers: mothers to their children. Original stories that were as homemade and inviting as freshly baked bread were often improvised by her mom to entertain Georgia as a young child. The practice continued as Georgia shared stories with her own three children and eleven grandchildren as well as the many junior and senior high students in her former classrooms during her 33 years of teaching.
Now she is thrilled to share them with you through the pages of this book. Georgia and her husband currently enjoy a life full of big-sky sunsets and wide-open spaces on their ranch in northcentral South Dakota.
A Story Was Brewing
How It All Began
This story has been brewing in my heart for years, but its origins arrived at different times and places. One sunny morning while I sat in my car waiting for my daughters to finish their dance class, a postman walked by and the idea for a story about a lost letter was planted. Years later, I read Psalm 73:26: My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
The words struck a chord in my heart, especially “my portion forever,” and remained there for years until a complete story developed. I believe God gave me this story bit by bit and then allowed me to piece it together when the time was right. The characters and situations are all fictional and only intended to represent people who struggle to find love, purpose, and security in their lives. My hope is that the message the Lord gave me will encourage all of us to seek Him for all our needs.
